After a short month in the BCHL as assistant coach of the Trail Smoke Eaters, West Coast Hockey Prep Camp Coach Ryan Donald is heading back to his Alma Mater as the Assistant Coach of Yale University. In his first summer with us, Ryan really impressed us with this professionalism, attention to detail, and care he took teaching, meeting and evaluating his players. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that an Ivy League graduate can nail his exit interviews, but still, he was awesome! If he can make it work, Ryan plans to join us again in the summer of 2016 at the West Coast Hockey Prep Camp.
I am very thankful for the opportunity the Trail Smoke Eaters gave me during this phase of my coaching journey. Everyone from the Operations department through the game day staff treated my wife Carly and I like family from day one and we are both going to miss what lay in front of us here in Trail. Being a Yale Alum, it has always been my goal to someday return there in a coaching capacity, and I am excited to get back to New Haven and begin working with the student-athletes at Yale. I look forward to following the Smokies in the future and watching these athletes grow into young men.” stated Donald about his time here in Trail.! Congrats Ryan, and we hope to see you again next summer at the West Coast Hockey Prep Camp.
