The Prep Camp Team would like to congratulate the Female U18 and Male U16 Team BC that recently took home gold in their respective regional competitions. Both teams are part of BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence that has the mandate to identify and train elite level hockey players for high performance competition. To be selected to represent Team BC is an honour, and our Prep Camp Team would like to specifically identify 10 athletes from these teams that trained with us in Port Alberni this past summer.

Taking part in the WHL Cup in Red Deer, Alberta October 20-24 was Prep Camp athlete Hiroki Gojsic. With a collection of the top 2006 born hockey players from the western region of Canada, Hiroki represented himself well by scoring a number of key goals including the opening goal in the finals. Team BC went on to go undefeated in the tournament en route to a gold medal performance.

The 2021 Western Regional Women’s U18 Championship took place November 1 – 5 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and brought together teams made up of the best female hockey players born in 2004.

Team BC’s only loss in the tournament came in the final round robin game against Team Alberta, but they made the most of the rematch in the finals edging their opponent 3-2 in a thrilling overtime game. The Team BC roster was filled with familiar names that trained with us this past summer, with 9 members of the team playing a key role in bringing home the gold. Congrats to Hailey MacLeod, Aynsley D’Ottavio, Sara Swiderski, Jordan Baxter, Abby Whitworth, Gillian Lapierre, Vienna Rubin, Nancy Moore, Brooklyn Hutchings, and the rest of Team BC!
