Team Canada defeated host team Sweden 10-0 in the U18 Women’s World Championship finals in January to capture their second gold medal in as many years. This years Canadian team once again had a heavy West Coast Prep Camp alumni presence. West Coast Prep Camp alumni from this years Team Canada roster included players Jordan Baxter and Morgan Jackson. Notable members of the team’s coaching and training staff are also camp alumni in assistant coach Stefanie McKeough and head equipment manager Mike Matthies.
Jordan Baxter, who also won gold at the 2022 U18’s, has been attending prep camp as an athlete and as a coach and will be back again with us this year. Jordan is committed to play at Ohio State in the NCAA for 2023-24.
Morgan Jackson was the sole Vancouver Islander represented on Team Canada’s U18 roster. Morgan will also be attending West Coast Prep Camp this year, which will be marking her 6th year with us!
The Assistant Coach for the gold medal team was Stephanie McKeough who is currently coaching at the University of Ottawa. Stephanie attended camp in 2021 and is hoping to be back in the near future.
Team Equipment Manager Mike Matthies was a member of our prep camp team in 2020 as an AT. Mike currently is the AT for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.
