West Coast Avalanche – come on board the train!!

Hi everyone,

This new MM team announcement is so exciting! Will definitely keep you posted as the program ramps up!!

While NSFIHA has been approved to host a FMMAAA team for the Sept 2013 season, we are still waiting for BC Hockey to finalize a number of things, such as the official team name and coaches. We have applied for the name “West Coast Avalanche” and there are Coach applications currently submitted to BC Hockey. Ho
pefully will have BCH’s approval on both these things shortly.

We have also put a lot of thought into what the program will look like and offer players, in addition to the FMMAAA league game schedule, and believe we have a innovative and challenging program lined up, one that will bring value for the money spent, take skills and development to a new level, be fun, rewarding & memory making in so many ways and most importantly, better prepare the girls for whatever, their future hockey aspirations might be over the next few years!

Try Outs will be Aug 9, 10, 11, at Canlan Ice Sports North Shore. There will be 5 on ice sessions (practice and scrimmage) and Twist Conditioning will be conducting the fitness testing.

A Welcome Meeting is planned for Friday afternoon, followed by the 1st on ice practice. There will be 2 on ice sessions on Saturday (late morning practice and mid afternoon scrimmage), fitness testing Sunday morning and the last on ice scrimmage mid afternoon Sunday. Exit interviews will follow. We hope to have the registration online, once our new “West Coast Avalanche” website is up and running, but in the meantime, I have you listed as interested in participating.

For the regular season we will have practices at both Canlan 8 Rinks in Burnaby and Canlan ISNS, North Van. Twist will be doing the fitness which will include Twist Conditioning and the Grouse Grind (natures stair master while the weather permits)!

The BCH FMMAAA league schedule is still very much a ‘draft’ and to be confirmed however, you can anticipate a 50-60 game season which will include league, exciting exhibition games and away tournaments!

Thx for your interest!!
