As the Prep Camp director, website guy, marketing person, coach recruiter, and owner of my own hockey development company Leslie Global Sports, not a day goes by when I don’t think about the way I coach, and the way people learn. I try to stay innovative in my methodology by learning from mentors and questioning my own style and technique. As a skills development coach I stress the importance of ice time management, and believe ice time should be used for skills and decision making/competitive drills. I’ve learned that tactics, theory, and systems should first be learned off ice, and can then more easily and efficiently implemented on ice. I spend most of my ice times teaching skills, and have always wanted a platform to teach the tactics of the game, without wasting valuable ice time. From that position grew our latest online project, How to Play Hockey.
After 3 years of brainstorming, planning, and developing How to Play Hockey, it’s with sheer jubilation we can now share it with the world. This course is designed to take you through the complete A-Z of hockey tactics, theory, and structure in every zone of the ice. We teach systems, tactics, principles, and nuances of hockey. We have added many skill tip videos to help you improve your game, and will add many more over time. We provide alternatives, and the pros and cons associated with various tactics and theories.
This membership based website will improve your hockey sense and game understanding. In turn, your passion for the game will also increase. Our mission is to share our lives in hockey as professional players and youth hockey development consultants with the global hockey community. We want our members to feel comfortable learning strategy, tactics, and theory any time, any where, and at any pace.
The curriculum is easy to follow. We begin with hockey terminology, and then progress into each of the 3 zones. The defensive, neutral, and offensive zones are explored in great details both with, and without puck possession. Modules are chalked full of 5-10 minute videos, and printable slides to take notes and follow along.
There is currently 800+ minutes of easily digestible content for you to study. Although we encourage you to move through the course one lesson at a time, feel free to skip to areas that interest and challenge you the most. We will help take your game understanding to levels higher than you ever thought possible. Share your knowledge with your family, teammates, and friends. Let us help you enjoy this great game.
Sincerely,
Nate
