Wikipedia told me today that, “In six-and-a-half seasons’ work with the Canucks, Crawford marked himself as the longest-serving and winningest head coach in franchise history, coaching 529 games and 246 wins. On February 3, 2006, one of his last games in Vancouver, he also became the third-youngest head coach in NHL history to reach 400 wins. At 48 years and 342 days, this mark trails only Scotty Bowman and Glen Sather.[5] ” The bio is a few years out of date, but to protect Marc’s privacy, and age, we’ll leave it that way.

Marc is a good friend of Prep Camp director Ronnie Paterson, and we are very excited to confirm this great news today.  His family is familiar with camp, as many of us have had the opportunity to work alongside Marc’s son Dylan in his days as goalie coach with Brady Robinson and Lynden Sammartino.  At present Marc is coaching Zurich Lions, in the Swiss National A League, a team that my own father coached a few years ago.  I used to play against the Zurich Lions, although they were top of the league, and we were at the Bottom in Basel, and I don’t remember touching the puck very much on those nights!

Marc has had great success in Zurich, and hence the week he will join us is currently undecided.  If he returns to coach in Europe, most teams start on August 1st, so he’d be much more likely to join us in Week 2.  We’ll keep you all posted, and appreciate your understanding while we wait patiently to confirm his dates.
