Brendan Metz: Instructor, Elite Goalies, Inc.
Brendan has over 30 years of combined playing and coaching experience where he played his representative hockey in Richmond, BC and represented the Lower Mainland in the BC’s Best Ever Program. He played his Junior hockey for the Port Coquitlam Buckeroos and the 1991 / 92 Cyclone Taylor Cup Championship team Richmond Sockeyes. Brendan was recruited by various NCAA and Ivy League schools including Colby College and Brown University and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and diploma in Education. He currently teaches high school English in the Surrey School District 36.
Brendan has experience instructing goaltenders from Amateur to Professional including goaltenders from Major Midget, CIS, PIJHL, BCJHL, WHL, CHL, NAPHL, USHL, NCAA, EIHL, and AHL; notably Erika Lawrence of the Fraser Valley Phantom; Aaron Oakley of the Abbotsford Pilots; Luke Siemens of the Prince Albert Raiders; Olympian Danielle Dube of the UBC Thunderbirds Women’s Varsity; Chris Rawlings of the Portland Pirates; Josh Robinson of the Texas Stars; and Andrew Hammond, recently signed to the Ottawa Senators.
The past three years, Brendan has instructed at every level of Elite Goalies camps mentoring with both BC Hockey Goaltending Coach Pasco Valana and Mike Valley of the NHL Dallas Stars. With Pasco, Brendan has completed evaluations for BC Hockey High Performance Female U16 and U18 zone camps including Kylee Styles, of the Pacific Ravens, currently representing the U18 Female BC Team.
Brendan is also a Head Coach with the Richmond Ravens awarded with both the BC Hockey Ice Hockey Association of the Year 2011 / 2012 and the PCAHA Ice Hockey Association of the Year 2010 / 2011 distinctions and will continue to lead the goaltending development program for the association well as continue as the Pacific Ravens Major Midget Goalie Coach this upcoming season.
Brendan will be returning to instruct at all Elite Goalies Camps, including the exclusive Pro Mentorship Camp with Elite Goalies owner, Mike Valley and Pasco Valana, at the Olympic Oval this summer.
