As you will see on the schedule we have 4 Varsity Groups named after Alumni who are also all working and training with us this summer! Check out this Alumni Success Post to learn more about their journey and success. We are grateful to name our groups in their honour.

How do we make the Varsity Groups?

  • The Buglioni, Jobst-Smith and Schaefer groups are made up from oldest to youngest by positions with the odd exception for travel/sibling logistics.
  • The Gardiner Group is by invite only and is composed of U18 athletes heading to the next round of Team BC tryouts on pursuit of making the 2025 U18 POE Team BC roster.
  • The Staenz Group: Currently all Varsity Eligible Players in Week 2.

*West Coast Hockey Prep Camp reserves the right to finalize camp rosters. While we understand it may be disappointing not to be placed with a previous teammate, we ask that you trust our experienced coaching staff to provide a valuable training and development experience for your athlete. Coaches will assess group dynamics on Day 1 to ensure optimal placements. Athletes in dorms may still room with friends, even if they are on different teams. We appreciate your understanding of our process. For further inquiries, please contact us at team@prepcamp.com with “VARSITY GROUP” in the subject line, and a team member will respond.

The West Coast Hockey Prep Camp is designed for rep level and high performance athletes. The vast majority of our players are playing at the top levels in their age categories from Rep, Academies, Junior, and University. When you apply, the system will show you only age groups that match your grade. Some programs have minimum requirements. The Varsity Group in our High Performance Female Camps (Weeks 1 and 2) is open only to players playing U18 AAA or higher. Our Junior Group in High Performance Male Camp Week 3 & 4 is open only to players playing Junior B / U18 Academy Prep or higher.

We will be selling merchandise at camp, first come first serve at the welcome table in front of the rink throughout camp! You can pay by credit card, debit card, or ‘Spending Money’

Spending Money: Funds may be added to your athlete’s account in the additional options section of your CampInTouch account and spent like cash at camp for things like skate sharpening, merchandise, laundry, and other products.

Parents have the option to pre-load money into their camp “spending accounts” as an allowance that can be spent on merchandise and skate sharpenings.

Yes! Campers can pay with cash or card at the merch table. If they do not have cash or card, they can still get their skates sharpened or buy a souvenir on their camp account. Those charges will be processed onto the credit card on file at the end of the week.

Sharpening is $10 and completed every evening. You can pay and leave your skates at the welcome table in front of the rink.  You can pay by adding it to your ‘Additional Options’ form in your account, using your ‘Spending Money’ from your account, by credit card or debit card at the welcome table.

Check out the programs listed under the ‘Programs‘ tab in the menu bar of this website. We try to consolidate ages and programs in an easy to see graphic on the ‘Apply’ Page. Detailed information can be found in our camp software Dates and Rates Page. You’ll only see the programs you are eligible for based on the age/grade you enter.

In order to view every applicant and match them to the appropriate program, our CampMinder software system allows families to ‘apply’ to camp. Once we have reviewed your application, we will charge your deposit and enrol your application. In special cases we may suggest changes to the program applied. Please visit our Application page here to apply.

Yes.  Please add Room and Board in your application or in your additional options section of your family account. Regular Room and board is Monday-Friday. Full Meal plans will be included only for those athletes registered to live with us in Robinson Hall (Room and Board). Teenagers are teenagers! Our recommended youngest age in the dorms is 13. We do accept exceptions as young as 11. A camper once learned that Santa was not real in the dorms. Let’s not let that be your child!

Deposits start at $100 and $59 registration fee if you register for next summer while at camp. The registration fee increases to $75 (per athlete in your family) after the last day of our final week. Mandatory Forms: Please check out your CampInTouch Account Login Page (Please check the “Forms and Documents” section for any mandatory forms you still need to fill out a week before you arrive.

Please visit our Policies page here for the most up to date cancellation policy. As COVID-19 changed businesses around the world, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of families while maintaining policies that allow us to operate successfully.

We have partnered with a program called Team Genius as of 2023! Each athlete will receive an individualized report put together from our team at camp. You can expect this to be emailed out on the last day of camp that way you can hang on to it and refer back to all the wonderful key takeaways from their time at camp with us.  Our staff will be commenting on what they believe to be your athletes greatest strengths and areas for growth in there game of hockey.

Camp Groups / Teams: Our groups, as the name typically implies, are created by birth year / grade. There is typically 1 group per age. You can expect to see up to 34 skaters, 2-4 goalies, and 4-6 coaches on ice per session. Only in extreme cases do we like to consider moving players out of their age groups.

Contact / Checking: Regardless of age/level, our camp is meant to be a body contact, not body checking camp. We ask that all athletes respect that our camp is designed to help athletes prepare for the coming season in a learning and training environment. While yes, there are scouts/coaches recruiting at camp, our #1 focus is ensuring a great life experience and preparatory camp for the coming season.

But what about Doug Lindores?! Leading up to camp please respect that all questions regarding camp should be directed to our Support Team. Doug’s role as Recruiter is to help you in the recruiting and application process. our Support Team led by Monika Hall is better suited and prepared to offer support leading up to and during camp.

Other programs for siblings in Port Alberni: Looking for other programs for siblings? Check out the local program scene here.

Valuables: Camp is NOT responsible for valuables left unattended. This INCLUDES phones, chargers, ear buds, passports, cash, wallets, jewelry. We ARE happy to lock these items up in our safe for the duration of camp. WE recommend your child bring a combination lock to put on our lockers that are outside the dorm so they can keep there valuables in a safe place but access them as they need.

Behaviour Policy: When athletes make good decisions we don’t need a policy! We will give a warning if necessary, and the next move is a call home to you in the presence of your athlete. The next call after that is a call home to request that you pick up your athlete early.  We log incidents in your athlete’s CampMinder account. On average we have to send 1 athlete home per summer (0.13% of our athletes), and want nothing more than for that athlete to not be your family member!

Medical Services: We have Certified Athletic Therapists at camp ready to serve athletes in need. The hospital is also just a few blocks away and we have protocols to access services quickly if necessary.  Please be sure to check your Forms section of your CampInTouch account for any medical forms required. If your needs are not met through our software system, please contact team@prepcamp.com to set up a time to discuss your unique medical needs.

Participants interested in volunteering during their down time may speak to members of Team Prep Camp about getting on our radar by helping out.
