Monitoring:
COVID-19 Prep Camp Status: We continue to stay up to date on the latest developments and safety measures recommended by the BC Ministry of Health and Vancouver Island Health Authority. We will continue to update our response as the situation evolves in the coming months. The only constant in life is change. We know there is more change to come.
COVID-19: Prep Camp commitment as global citizens:
Our number one camp priority is to act as responsible and compassionate global citizens. This position will make decisions seamless, ethical, and just. When this crisis passes, we want to look back knowing we made the best decisions for humanity, the many countries who send us keen athletes every summer, the communities we impact, our dedicated team of professionals, and the 900+ families who entrust their kids with us every summer.
Preparation:
Our off season team continues to plan for camp in the event we are fortunate to operate this summer. We are also making contingency plans that include everything from a scaled down version of camp to a complete postponement. We intend to make a final decision well in advance of the potential first day of camp and believe our future will be much more clear in the coming weeks.
Payments:
Respecting current levels of family financial disruption we are freezing the collecting any further monthly installments until our summer future is more certain. In the event of a postponement fees paid to date will carry over as credit for 2021.
Applications:
- We welcome families to apply for camp and have been enrolling applications daily. To date we have nearly 700 athletes confirmed and 90% of our hiring complete.
- We welcome families to inquire about camp 2020.
- We welcome coaches and support teams to apply for employment.
- We have suspended our outbound recruiting activities as we do not want to ‘sell’ on promises we cannot currently make.
Cancellation Policy:
Current Cancelation Policy (for comparison):
COVID-19 Prep Camp Amendment to Cancellation Policy:
- Within 7 days of registration: $0 cancellation fee.
- After 7 days: $200.
- 100% Credit towards camp in 2021 available at any time.
- If we postpone the 2020 camp, all participants who have not cancelled for refund (less $200) will have 100% credit paid to date carried over to 2021.
We encourage you all to stay safe, home, socially distant, and healthy. Take care of one another in this uncertain time.
Sincerely,
Nate Leslie, the West Coast Hockey Prep Camp directors, and our dedicated team.
