For the 3rd summer in the last 5 years, Professor David Elmes from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, Japan will return to conduct research at camp. Due to the high quality of coaches, and elite level of your athletes, David has found no better place to conduct his research. Below is a brief on his work.
A Brief Introduction to Research on Coach-Player Communications:
by David Elmes, National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, Japan.
In order to contribute to the advancement of Japan’s global human resources in the fields of sport and physical education, Japanese English language learners must have greater access to resources which offer authentic opportunities for relevant language training and production. Many athletes spend a large part of their lives training to be the best in their sport, but stop short of extending their training considerations to the benefits that other coaches, cultures, and countries can offer. Through transcription and analysis of audio and video recordings of sports camp instruction, this research focuses on coach-player communications and seeks to identify actual language in use in this communicative context, and to identify any common and recurrent language for use in the development of Sports English language curriculum targeting natural production.
If our camp is good enough for Professor Elmes’ university research, we are comfortable saying it’s a good fit for the talented player in your family.
